STATE AND LOCAL HIGHLIGHTS

ARKANSAS

The House Insurance and Commerce Committee will hold a public hearing March 20 regarding HB 1656, which prohibits a healthcare insurer from requiring prior authorization or imposing any other requirement other than a prescription for medication-assisted treatment in order for a patient to obtain coverage of a drug used for medication-assisted treatment of an opioid addiction or other substance abuse disorder.

CALIFORNIA

The Senate Environmental Quality Committee will hold a public hearing March 20 regarding SB 232, which excludes packages from the packaging ban that would not exceed 100 parts per million by weight of metal but for the addition of recycled materials, provided that the sum of the incidental total concentration levels of all regulated metals present in the package or packaging component does not exceed 200 parts per million by weight.

FLORIDA

The Department of Children and Families will hold a rule development workshop March 18 regarding amendments to rules concerning behavior analysis services.

MAINE

The Joint Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business will hold a public hearing March 19 regarding LD 909, which directs the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development to establish a working group to develop a master plan for fostering the expansion of the blockchain technology industry in the State and recommend policies and investments to make the State a leader in blockchain technology.

The House Taxation Committee will hold a public hearing March 19 regarding HB 630, which exempts virtual currency from taxation.

The House Health Care Committee will hold a public hearing March 19 regarding HB 3279, which requires the payment amount for a provider of substance use disorder services paid with medical assistance funds to be equal to the payment amount for providers of mental health treatment.

The Senate Finance Committee will hold a public hearing March 18 regarding SB 890, which requires a marketplace provide to collect and remit sales tax on items sold through the marketplace.
