The Lottery Comes to the ATM

There has been a great deal of attention surrounding Linq3 following ATMIA’s 11th annual conference and expo in Miami last month. Linq3 partnered with Nautilus Hyosung to display both the 1800 and 5300 CE model ATMs with new lottery ticketing capability. Linq3 has been developing its proprietary software solution for three years.

“We’ve been working closely with both the states and lottery operators to create a transaction that’s secure and easy to play.  For the user interface and screen flow, we partnered with our hardware manufacturers (Hyosung in this case) to create a quick and clear transaction (and Columbus Data Systems (CDS) for processing).” said Linq3 CEO, Daniel Cage.

The solution is a win for the lottery because it adds significant retail footprint at very low cost. The technology represents a significant growth in revenue that lotteries can contribute back to their state budgets. ISO’s with footprints in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Europe have all shown interest in the software. The “LottoLinq” software is available on all new CE machines and a large footprint of ATM’s in the field with a simple software upgrade.

“The beauty of the solution is it represents new revenue for the ATM owner with no hardware upgrades. We made sure we don’t get in the way of the core function of the machine and add an exciting new product.” said Linq3 COO David Tashjian.

The customer is presented lottery options and tickets are printed using existing hardware. This is made possible by security enhancements Linq3’s software provides including encrypted logging of all ticket purchasing information and stored in PCI compliant and SAS70 data centers. Other features include texting of numbers played and winning numbers as well as auto-redemption of winners below the reportable limit in the machines jurisdiction.
