The document provides input on the Total ATM Lifecycle Operation Solutions (TALOS), defining the operational lifecycle, typical annual cost of ownership, and recommendations for improving business efficiency (cash, maintenance & advertising). The manual also incorporates recommendations on Outsourcing from a vendor perspective, customer perspective, and the legal framework headings. The final chapter adds information on the requirements for a successful ISO business model .

3. Fight against ATM Crime

UK crime data and European crime data has shown a drop in the amount of card fraud since the implementation of Chip & PIN. Card skimming in 2005 resulted in €44m across Europe which is down by 43% on 2004 figures. However of increased concern is the significant increase in Card Not Present fraud up by 21% (mainly phone, internet, and mail transactions), were customer data is obtained by phishing scams, computer spyware, and counterfeit sites. The banking industry continues to address security procedures and technologies to improve customer awareness and improve on line security.
