Communication Campaign Update

It was decided to focus on a few areas where we can make a difference, rather than trying to do too much ineffectively. The best platform to launch this campaign will be during ATMIA’s event in February 2008. The following are the four action items:
  • Maximize exposure of the ATMIA white paper/discussion paper on the many social and economic benefits of the ATM in order to reinforce the good reputation of the ATM
  • Audit all of ATMIA’s projects, committee work and programs and submit a list to the committee for feedback on key areas to focus on
  • Joining the pro-cash lobby to counteract the negative advertising of the anti-cash lobby.  Part of this project would be to reach out to consumer groups to test the popularity of cash. By promoting cash we are promoting the main distribution channel for cash, the ATM, as well as boosting consumer confidence in the ATM, cash and cards.
  • Form a Law Enforcement Liaison group to gather international contacts of police, and work to tackle certain type of ATM crime together, while keeping the police contacts informed about the industry.  This would indirectly protect consumer confidence in the industry by strengthening anti-crime initiatives and intelligence.

2008 Strategy – ATMIA is investigating participating in a Graduate Student Information Assurance Capstone Class whereby student teams are assigned to work on consulting projects for profit and not-for-profit organizations. Professors direct students in defining the client's problem, fact gathering, analyzing alternatives and proposing specific solutions.  This would be a 13 week program where the students provide a GAP analysis on ATMIA’s initiatives internationally, take the requests/needs of our members, and help ATMIA deal more effectively with strategic and tactical challenges while meeting our member’s needs.  This will also be a great way to focus on the best way to strategize on our communications efforts.

If you are interested in any of these initiatives, please feel free to contact lana@atmia.com.
