ATMIA has developed a set of Best Practices and Security Guidelines to assist impacted parties in combating ram raids. The development of these documents represents a group effort from various parties based on tried and true practices that have a proven success record in drastically reducing the occurrence of smash and grabs over the years. The manuals are available for purchase in PDF format please contact Mike Lee for additional information.

As a result of an upsurge in ram raids in several countries in 2005, an international Ram Raid think tank was convened by ATMIA. The security guidelines listed in this manual are recommended as industry “best practice” and may be of assistance when putting together or reviewing an ATM security strategy for preventing ram raids. The document is a reference text and is intended to complement the advice of the Police, Insurers, Security Advisers, Security Departments of ATM deploying organizations and relevant National Security Standards currently in place. Price: $275.00 USD

The scope of this document is limited to the security of the "stand-alone" or “freestanding” type of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) typically situated in convenience stores, petrol stations, supermarkets etc. It takes the form of crime reduction guidance aimed at reducing the risks of crime on the premises where such ATMs are installed. The document covers various aspects of security concerning the ATM, its host premises and the general movement of cash within the premises. However the specific security measures associated with cash replenishment by Cash in Transit providers is considered outside the scope of this document and best dealt with by the individual carrying companies concerned. Price: $175.00 USD

The scope of this document is limited to the security of ‘street-based’ ATMs in public telephone kiosks and columns/pods typically situated on public footways. It takes the form of crime reduction guidance aimed at reducing the risks of crime against the ATM, user, replenisher and service engineer.  It is recognized that many of the recommendations in this document could be applied to similar instillations in open, privately owned locations to which the public have access.  These security guidelines are not intended for ‘through-the-wall’ type ATMs, with the exception of the generic advice provided for the ATM user. Price: $175.00 USD
