10 Things You Don't Want to Miss at ATMIA US 2019

There is always a lot to see and do in Orlando. Mickey, Minnie and a cast of characters at Disney World, Universal Studios, Epcot and SeaWorld... just to name a few attractions. But when the ATM industry descends on Orlando, Feb 19-21, for the largest ATM event in the world, all eyes will be focused on Next-Gen ATMs and an exciting world of new capabilities in the self-service channel.

Here are 10 things you should plan to make time for during the 2019 U.S. ATMIA Conference at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort:

1.   Pre-Show Workshops Included in the Price of Registration – For the second year in a row, pre-conference workshops are included in the price of registration. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, attendees will be able to learn about some of the hottest self-service payment topics including: how to build a migration strategy that includes Next-Gen ATMs, how to protect your ATMs from criminal attacks, and the latest on cardless ATMs and servicing interactive teller machines (ITMs).

2.   ATM "Hot Topics" Town Hall Meeting – Since its introduction in 2016, the town hall has become a highlight of the annual ATMIA US Conference – encapsulating industry-wide happenings in a tidy 60-minute package. Moderated by ATMIA US Executive Director David Tente, this year's session will include the presentation of the 1st Annual ATMmys Awards for ATM industry marketing excellence and panelists from Allpoint, the Food Marketing Institute, Merchant Advisory Group and the National Association of Convenience Stores.

3.   Back to the Future DeLorean in the ATMIA Booth – The industry is on the cusp of redefining the future with the Next-Gen API app model for ATMs but the ATMIA booth will take you Back to the Future with a replica of the DeLorean from the movie. You'll be able sit in it, turn on the lights, play a few 80s tunes and have your photo taken while dreaming of time traveling. You just can't drive it out of the expo hall!

4.   Over 100 Booths in the Exhibit Hall – In the world's largest exhibit hall devoted exclusively to ATMs and the self-service channel, you're sure to find new and exciting technologies that will take your business to the next level. And you'll probably run into old friends and make new ones with over 1,100 attendees from more than 25 different countries expected.

5.   Keynote Speaker – Waterman, adventurer, best-selling author and film director Chris Bertish has broken world records in big wave surfing, stand up paddle boarding and many other water-based disciplines – just as he has shattered perceptions of what is possible, in everything he does. Chris will inspire and motive you to Dream it, See it. Believe it. Achieve it – during his keynote address on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

6.   Planning & Preparing for the 3G to 4G Transition – 3G mobile technology took the world by storm with faster speed and scarce limitations with what could be accomplished. So now that the world is preparing to transition from 3G to 4G what does that mean for ATMs? In this session, you'll learn when 3G will be going away, what to expect when transitioning to 4G and much more.

7.   Bank Account Closures: What's an ATM Operator to Do? – Nearly 18 months after the Department of Justice officially ended Operation Choke Point, the ATM industry continues to struggle with ATM settlement account closures by banks. The session, "Finding Solutions to ATM Settlement Account Closures," will focus on helping ATM operators find solutions to secure their settlement accounts.

8.   The Future of Cryptocurrency in the ATM Channel – It seems you can't open an industry publication these days without seeing news about Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. Although Bitcoin and crypto are all the rage, there is still considerable confusion about what is and isn't possible at the ATM. In this panel discussion, you'll learn about the subtleties of KYC, AML and regulatory issues that present new challenges for potential operators of crypto-type ATMs and kiosks.

9.   Marketing, Marketing, Marketing – Everything you ever wanted to know about marketing your ATM business! Well, maybe not everything since the session is only 45 minutes long but our panelists will do their best to explain "How to Target Potential Customers" and answer your questions about advertising, marketing, public relations and more.

10.   Millennials and ATMs: What to Expect from the Next Generation – Despite the common perception that Millennials are about all things digital, their payment preferences don't necessarily line up with the stereotype. In this panel discussion you'll learn that in many cases Millennials are more likely to use cash. So how will they react to the next-gen of ATMs? Panelists Gianni Del Vecchio with KLEAR Technologies, Steve Hensley with KAL and Terry Dooley with SHAZAM will fill you in.
