Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services USDA Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services
Brandon Lipps currently serves as the Deputy Under Secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Nutrition and Consumer Services. Prior to this role he served as Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), and also as Acting Deputy Under Secretary of the Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services from 2017 until 2019. Since joining USDA, Lipps has led FNS to deliver programs through human-centered design with a focus on moving families forward. Lipps believes all FNS programs can be delivered in a manner that helps families be better off tomorrow than they are today, and has a passion for accomplishing that mission, one family at a time.
Prior to his service at USDA, Lipps worked both in and out of government, serving on leadership teams for organizations with more than 20,000 employees, practicing commercial and agricultural law, and providing both legal and policy advice at the state and federal level on natural resources and anti-poverty policy. Lipps graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics and earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law.
