Man Nabbed with $130Gs in Counterfeit Cash at Pearson

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly being found carrying more than US$130,000 in counterfeit $100 bills at Pearson airport.

The RCMP say a man returning from Ghana was intercepted last Thursday by the Canada Border Services Agency at Pearson.

The officers discovered counterfeit U.S. notes concealed within the inner lining of three handbags, police say.

A 36-year-old Ottawa man is charged with unlawful introduction of counterfeit money into Canada and unlawful custody of counterfeit money.

A bail hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday.
