7 FIs, fintech providers recognized as Best in Bank Customer Experience for 2017

Networld Media Group, publisher of ATM Marketplace and Mobile Payments Today, handed out seven awards Tuesday night in Chicago during a gala banquet sponsored by Cineplex Digital Media.

The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the Bank Customer Experience Summit at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile. The Best in Bank Customer Experience Awards honor innovative, consumer-focused financial institutions and fintech providers whose branches and technologies heighten the customer or member experience.

Award winners for 2017 included:

  • Bank of America, Best Branch Experience (large bank)
    Judges commented that "Bank of America does a really nice job of integrating the human touch with advanced technology. The best big-bank experience I've seen," and "Quite innovative. A good example of an omnichannel banking experience."

  • First Financial Northwest Bank, Best Branch Experience (small/medium bank)
    One judge said, "This branch projects warmth and a welcoming, community orientation. It features a pleasant open layout, with well-defined spaces, thoughtfully integrated technology balanced with human interaction." Another commented, "Tech bars and a virtual brochure add a futuristic touch to the bank branch."

  • Millennium BCP, Best Branch Experience (international bank)
    "Nice modern feel without becoming too cold," one judge observed. Another said, "Concentration on tech, open space, etc. seems to make a bank branch visit person personable."

  • NCR, Best ATM/Self-service Experience
    One judge said, "The combination of interoperability with smartphones and offering video capabilities offer a great customer experience for banking customers."

  • HDFC Bank, Best Mobile Experience (bank)
    Judges commented that "Usability being a key component of any app, it seems that HDFC Bank has found the right mix to lure customers into mobile banking and keep them happy," and "With an ability to understand customers' needs, and tailor and serve up appropriate content, users will undoubtedly welcome the user experience and want to explore the app's features."

  • FSS Aadhaar Pay, Best Mobile Experience (international fintech)
    One judge said, "Aadhaar Pay is allowing India to leapfrog the older, long-established and less merchant- and consumer-friendly technologies that drive payments in developed markets. And it is doing so in a manner that is simple to implement and use, universally available and relatively inexpensive."

  • StrategyCorps BaZing, Best Mobile Experience (US fintech)
    "An interesting proposition to add value and relevance to banks' mobile offerings. The app looks to be well thought out, useful and user-friendly," one judge observed. Another said, "A good way for banks to help differentiate themselves from others. Speaks to the ability to help customers with money-saving offers by going to them with alerts as well as giving customers the ability to find deals on their own."
