April is Community Banking Month

During April, the Independent Community Bankers Association recognizes community banking and SHAZAM celebrates the many relationships we’ve built. From coast to coast, SHAZAM provides banks with products and services so they can serve their customers.

In the United States, community banks comprise 99 percent of all banks. They provide more than 60 percent of all small business loans and make more than 80 percent of all agricultural loans. With more than 52,000 locations across the country, community banks employ 760,000 people. They are part of the very fabric of our nation and are integral to the communities they serve.

Our mission, “Strengthening community banks,” guides our work. We understand that community banks face a future full of rapidly changing technology, shifting consumer behaviors and new waves of industry regulations. We solve these challenges by providing choices in innovative payment solutions, proactive fraud prevention, security services, a core solution and more — all without compromising quality or reliability. The flexibility we offer helps community banks compete and provide solutions for their customers.

Moreover, we recognize community banks and the way they support local economies. Community banks are a vital part of the communities where their customers live and work, enabling local businesses and communities to thrive. SHAZAM is poised to help community banks be the best they can be and when that happens, everyone wins. From local farms to main street to small businesses, community banks connect people to their neighbors, giving everyone a stake in their shared success.

In 1976, SHAZAM’s founder had an innovative vision for the future of payments. He believed it should be possible for community banks to process electronic payments quickly, securely and cost-effectively. He also believed that consumers should have similar choices in their banking decisions. By supporting community banks and advocating for choice and flexibility, SHAZAM is working to make people’s lives better — and our first step is to strengthen community banks.
