ATMIA (the ATM Industry Association) today announced the publication of an updated Best Practices manual for Cash in Transit (CiT) in the U.S. market.  The original manual was released in 2011.  This revised version incorporates a variety of updates reflecting new technologies and evolving standards for the industry.

Current events and statistics have been included in a new “Introduction” chapter to provide an overview of the crime landscape for CIT providers and as a reminder of the importance of due diligence and following industry best practices. In recent years there has been a significant increase in cash thefts associated with CIT carriers at their vaults, in transit and after the funds have been loaded into the ATM.

"Our thanks to Lowers & Associates for the leading the effort to update this important Best Practices manual, as well as to the other contributors," says David Tente, ATMIA USA & Americas executive director.  "There has been considerable change in the industry over the past eight years and it is important that our best practice resources stay current and relevant."

In an effort to foster a better and easier understanding of the manual, a “Key Terminology” chapter was added to the end. This new chapter includes detailed definitions for 62 key terms that are used throughout the manual, a few of which may not be familiar.

ATMIA members can download this and other industry Best Practices from the ATMIA website.  For information about membership, contact the ATMIA membership team.
