Cindy Smith named Volunteer of the Year

SHAZAM’s senior vice president of marketing and sales support, Cindy Smith, was recently named the volunteer of the year by the Iowa chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA).

Cindy has played a critical role as the awards and judging lead for the association’s annual competition, the NOVA Awards, for the past six years. In this role, she partners with chapters across the country to coordinate the judging of each other’s entries and tabulates the results.

When asked why she continues to volunteer her time year after year, Cindy explained, “It gives me the chance to develop deeper connections with other marketers beyond the AMA monthly meetings. Volunteering can also give you the opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and gain additional knowledge from people you’re working with. It expands your network.”

AMA is one of the largest professional associations for marketers and has been the leading source of information, knowledge sharing and development for marketers all across the globe. The Iowa chapter currently has more than 350 members employed by a wide variety of businesses, and was recently recognized for the seventh year for excellence among fellow chapters.
