Jackpotting and How To Stop It!

At Triton, we believe engineering in security on our ATMs is priority #1.  We all know that criminals never rest, so monitoring attacks on ATMs in markets around the world and staying ahead of the criminal element with new hardware & software security enhancements is vital to ensuring Triton customers feel confident in their Triton investment.

Regarding the recent jackpotting attacks on ATMs, Triton wants to remind our customers that keeping your ATM fleet up to date with the latest hardware & software security enhancements is crucial!

Triton released the Advanced Security Module (ASM) in 2013 with the launch of the ARGO line of ATMs.  When installed on a Triton, the ASM creates a unique encryption connection between the ATMs mainboard and cash dispenser.  Initializing this unique synchronization requires Master User credentials and access to the ATM vault.  In addition to the ASM, Triton also provides defenses against Malware attacks by requiring any software load attempt on a Triton ATM to be digitally signed by Triton using Triton’s private key.  In addition, these security features (as well as many others) are also available for legacy Triton ATM product lines.  For more detail on the kits available for the ASM, as well as additional information on other security features Triton provides on our ATMs, please see the linked corresponding Triton Technical Bulletins.
