Join us as we celebrate National AAP Recognition Day and welcome new AAPs

Each year on the second Tuesday of February, Nacha® and the payments associations celebrate the accomplishments of AAPs across the country. The AAP credential is the standard of excellence in ACH payments competency. On behalf of everyone at the SHAZAM Payments Association, I’d like to congratulate SHAZAM’s newest AAPs as they join the ranks of more than 4,600 AAPs nationwide.

Let’s learn a little more about what it means to be an AAP.

What’s an AAP?

AAP stands for Accredited ACH Professional.

An AAP possess a comprehensive knowledge of all areas of ACH, a deep understanding of and experience in one or more specific ACH subjects, and a broad knowledge of concepts related to the payments system as a whole.

Businesses with AAPs on staff serve as industry leaders and the go-to organizations regarding Nacha Operating Rules changes and industry regulations. They also enjoy operational efficiencies, enhanced risk management oversight, improved regulatory compliance, and increased customer service and satisfaction.

Becoming an AAP

Any professional in the payments industry can work toward AAP accreditation.

  • If you’ve worked in ACH for years, you’ll add a highly respected qualification to your resume.
  • If you’re relatively new to the field, you’ll give yourself an edge over the competition. Keep in mind, Nacha recommends spending at least two years in the payments industry before taking the AAP exam.
