We are thrilled to wrap up the 2024 ATMIA Europe and Emerging Markets ATMs and Cash Summit, an event that has once again demonstrated the strength and resilience of our global industry. Attendees from over 20 countries gathered to discuss critical issues, explore innovative solutions, and connect with peers, all with the common goal of safeguarding the future of ATMs and cash in an evolving financial landscape.

Key Highlights

Cash Advocacy, ATM Security, and Payment Choices: This year’s summit focused on three major themes: cash advocacy, ATM security, and the importance of preserving payment choices. These topics, central to our industry, sparked robust discussions throughout the event. Whether in formal sessions or casual conversations, the consensus was clear—our industry is undergoing rapid transformation, and collaboration is essential for navigating these changes.

Engaging Sessions & Inspiring Keynotes: Day 1 kicked off with Martin Quinn’s keynote, “Is Cash Under Threat in the UK?”, which set the tone for a thought-provoking summit. His analysis on the challenges facing cash circulation resonated with many attendees. On Day 2, we dove deeper into technological advancements, with sessions like “ATMs in the Digital World,” exploring how we can adapt and thrive in an increasingly digital environment.

Presentations from industry leaders like Jay Bourne, who tackled the complexities of simplifying legacy ATM infrastructure, and Jelena Stapf, who introduced cutting-edge AI-driven cash demand forecasting, were particularly well-received. Attendees left with actionable insights on how to future-proof their operations and embrace innovation.

The panel discussion on ATM Domestic Interchange Fees was very well received and it will be the mission of ATMIA to keep an eye on this industry issue. Networking and Collaboration: This year’s summit offered more than just educational content—it was a platform for building meaningful connections. Our first-ever Meet and Greet event brought together Board members, Advocacy Fund Contributors, and Emerging Leaders for a relaxed evening of networking. Lively discussions about the future of our industry took place over canapes and drinks, creating a sense of community that carried through the entire summit.

Throughout the two days, attendees had numerous opportunities to engage with peers, share experiences, and collaborate on strategies to address the challenges facing the ATM and cash industry.
