London, United Kingdom and Sioux Falls, SD, USA, February 29, 2016.  The ATM Industry Association (ATMIA) today published “Cloud-Based ATMs - Future ATM Hardware and Software Architecture”. Researched and written by international consultant of the year for 2015, Eric de Putter, Managing Partner of Payment Redesign, the report reviews evolving cloud-based ATM hardware and software architectures and processing solutions.

“Innovation in the ATM industry right now is the hottest it has been in over a decade,” commented Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA. “Eric has expertly assessed how the Cloud can empower a new generation of ATM software and hardware. This study is yet another contribution from our association to furthering industry conversations and developments in the field of innovation.”

The report covers such topics as lowering the Total Cost of Ownership through the Cloud, possible future applications in our industry of the technology, impact on future OS upgrades and migrations, increased ability to connect to non-banking applications, such as selling lottery tickets, voting, and making charitable donations – simply by adding apps to the ATM and new deployment potential arising from a more flexible, modular approach to ATM architecture.

“It’s no exaggeration to say we’re entering a new era for ATMs,” Lee added. “This report will help our members understand the window of opportunity better which is opening up before our eyes.”
