8 STATE LEGISLATURES ARE ACTIVELY MEETING THIS WEEK, INCLUDING 2 STATES HOLDING SPECIAL SESSIONS.

Also meeting: DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, GUAM and UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS.

STATE AND LOCAL HIGHLIGHTS

CALIFORNIA

The San Francisco Land Use and Transportation Committee will meet September 14 to consider recommending the amendments to the Health Code establishing cleaning and disease prevention standards and practices in tourist hotels and large commercial office buildings.

FLORIDA

The Agency for Health Care Administration will hold a workshop September 17 regarding a drafted amendment to the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Long-term Care Waiver Program Prioritization and Enrollment rule.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

The House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services Committee will hold a virtual hearing September 18 regarding HB 1576, which establishes the Targeted Workforce Development and Student Debt Relief Programs, providing for student debt relief of individuals who have worked in targeted industries for at least five years.

NEW JERSEY

The Senate Education Committee will hold a virtual public hearing September 14 regarding SB 2831, which authorizes the State Board of Examiners to issue a certificate of eligibility to teaching candidates, including alternate route candidates, who hold the equivalent of a certificate of eligibility or a provisional certificate from another state.

The Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee will hold a virtual public hearing September 14 regarding SB 2677, which creates State code requiring acute care general hospitals and long-term care facilities to maintain a 90-day supply of personal protection equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

OREGON

The Health Authority will hold a public hearing September 15 and accept comments until September 16 regarding proposed amendments to rules implementing the Governor's Executive Orders related to COVID-19. The rules include provisions impacting licensed food facilities.

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will hold a public hearing September 16 regarding HB 2197, which add solar panels to the Controlled Device Recycling Act.

TENNESSEE

The Nashville Metropolitan Council will meet September 15 to vote on the final adoption of the ordinance amending Chapters 13.32 and 7.08 of the Municipal Code related to the retail sale of beer and regulations for sidewalk cafes.

The Virginia Beach City Council will meet September 15 to vote to approve amendments to the City Zoning Ordinance allowing certain short-term rentals as permitted uses in the Old Beach Overlay District.

Stephanie Reich

Vice President, State and Local Issues

Prior to joining Stateside, Stephanie served in the Executive Office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia as Chief Operating Officer/Chief of Staff at the Department of Employment Services and as the Deputy Chief of Staff at Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. In this and other agency management positions, she provided leadership on key management functions, including legislative affairs, intergovernmental relations, community outreach, public information, performance management, procurement, labor relations and human resources. Stephanie also served as Chief of Staff to Linda W. Cropp, Chairwoman of the D.C. Council. 

Where do you call home? Washington DC! Although I still refer to Brooklyn as home as my dad still lives in the house I grew up in!

How long have you worked at Stateside? 5 years and 5 months. Time flies when you love what you do.

 

What’s your favorite food? Pizza. Pizza. Pizza. Even bad pizza.

What do you do to unwind? SoulCycle. If you know you know. SoulCycle people are the best people. 

 

What’s your favorite place in the world? Any place on the ocean with view from the pool.
