The North Adams City Council and Planning Board will hold a joint public hearing on November 28 regarding an ordinance to amend Section 10, entitled “Special Regulations,” of Revised Ordinances of the City. The proposed ordinance would create short-term rental (STR) regulations by requiring all STRs to register with the city and adhere to annual inspections. Non-owner-occupied STRs would be required to hire a professional manager for the property. The ordinance outlines compliance requirements with the state building code and which parts of the code different types of units must meet, dependent on factors such as owner occupancy, building type, and size.
