Azimut, a self-service solutions provider specializing in kiosks for banks and telecoms, recently debuted its Reverse ATM, a self service kiosk that helps customers convert cash into an active EMV card that they can start using right away, according to a press release.

This first batch of Reverse ATMs was deployed at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. a stadium with a seating capacity of more than 50,000 fans and is home to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The stadium had been closed for sporting events ever since the advent of the coronavirus. However, the Blue Jays received special permission from the federal government to continue playing and the stadium opened on July 30 for the new season.

With the global health crisis still thriving, the stadium was mandated to enforce public health and safety measures including the elimination of cash transactions altogether.

Reverse ATMs prompt users to insert their desired amount of cash and display the amount for confirmation before dispensing an active Visa card with the same amount of credit that can be spent at any point of sales.
