Everett, Washington police are warning residents about the increasing number of Bluetooth overlay skimmers in Western Washington on self-checkouts and ATMs. The devices steal card data and a user's PIN with a PIN pad overlay, according to a report by Kiro 7.

The Bluetooth overlay steals the user's card data wirelessly through the card terminal. Police are warning users to look at the POS to see if an overlay is installed and to always cover PIN input with their hands. They are also advising customers to use ATMs inside banks during business hours.
