Comparison of ATM safes with lower levels of physical security

Published By: ECB European Certification Body GmbH
Publication date: September 25, 2020

This White Paper compares safes used inside automated teller machines (ATM safes) which are classified according to the lower security levels “UL business hour”, “UL level 1”, “CEN L” and “CEN 1”. With lower level security, it is not meant, that these ATMs do not have any burglary resistance. It is only pointed out that ATMs exist, which have a higher burglary resistance as the one stated in these levels. On the basis of this White Paper banks and insurers shall be correctly informed about the differences between the classes.
