ATM card skimming is a global industry challenge and represents 92% of all cash losses due to ATM crime (EAST). Turkey is no exception. Incidents of card skimming have been increasing. The Turkish Banking
Regulation Board has made it a requirement for all ATM deployers in Turkey to protect their ATMs from skimming.

Akbank was already on the case, ahead of this industry initiative, and was determined to be the first bank in Turkey to protect 100% of its network. Since security and trust is a major component of Akbank’s customer relationship strategy, the bank was committed to protecting its cardholders from the growing risk of fraud.
