ATMIA CAPITOL HILL MEETINGS FOCUS ON "OPERATION CHOKE POINT"

ATM Industry Association leadership met last week with legislators and staff to address concerns over a variety of issues. They discussed the continuing and destructive impact of "Operation Choke Point" with Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R – MO). Luetkemeyer's bill, the Financial Institutions Customer Protections Act (H.R. 766), passed later that morning on a vote of 250 to 169.

ATMIA FORMS NEW COMMITTEE GROUP FOR BANK ATM DEPLOYERS

ATMIA announced that it has formed a new committee group specifically for financial institution ATM deployers. An estimated 45% of U.S. ATMs are operated by banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions. Yet, opportunities to network with their ATM channel peers, in a non-competitive environment, regarding issues that uniquely affect FI operators are rare.

ATMIA ISSUES RESPONSE TO MISLEADING STATEMENTS ABOUT ATM FEES

ATMIA issued a response to misleading statements about ATM fees contained in a rash of recent U.S. news articles. Political reactions to those articles, branding the fees "exploitative" and "usurious", were offered with little or no effort to determine the true facts.
