A Quiet August… Before a Busy September

Wednesday, August 19, 2026

by Erika Navarrete

August is a good time to slow down, recharge and enjoy the summer — but there is plenty for us to look forward to when we return in September.

Erika Navarrete,
Executive Director, EEM

Here’s a quick look at what’s ahead for our EEM community.

EEM Board Update

A big thank you to Dr. Jesse Galvan for his leadership as Chairman of the EEM Board. Jesse has now moved on to a new opportunity, and while we will certainly miss having him at the helm, we wish him every success in his next chapter.

In September, we will begin the conversation about who might take on the role of Chairman and help guide the region forward.

Save the Date — EEM Board Meeting

17 September | 10:00 AM UK Time

Our next Board meeting will be an important one, with discussions around Jesse’s replacement, our priorities for 2027 and, of course, our 60th Anniversary of the ATM celebrations.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Next year marks 60 years of the ATM, and we want our EEM Roadshow in June to be something special.

We’ll be talking about possible themes, keynote topics and panel discussions — looking not only at where our industry has come from, but where it is heading next.

What would you like us to be talking about?

Your ideas and input will help shape the programme, so please share your thoughts with us.

October: Emerging Markets Webinar Series

Our “Access First: The Future of Banking in Emerging Markets” webinar series is coming together, with sessions focusing on Africa, the Middle East, India and Pakistan.

The Call for Speakers is still open, and we would love to hear from members who have an interesting perspective, experience or story to share.

If you have an idea for a session or would like to recommend someone, please get in touch or submit your proposal as soon as possible.

Enjoy the Rest of Summer ☀️

For now, we hope you all have a wonderful rest of the summer and get some time to relax and recharge.

We’ll be back in September with plenty to discuss, plan and work on together — and we look forward to having you with us for what promises to be an exciting year ahead.

Warm regards,
Erika
