ATMIA Publishes New ATM Accessibility Guide

London, United Kingdom & Sioux Falls, SD, USA - ATMIA has today published “Maximizing ATM Accessibility” a new guide for incorporating greater access for all users, including those with disadvantages.

Building on previous publications, such as “Recommendations on ATM User Interface” (2014) and “ATM Biometric Security Best Practices” (2016), the manual addresses ways to improve access for users with personal impairments.

“The study estimates that that approximately one person in five of the global population is disabled,” comments Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA. “As we discuss the shape of next generation ATMs, we should include new conversations about the kind of advice offered in this text, building on successes already achieved by vendors and deployers in the field of increasing accessibility at ATMs.”

The report covers personal impairments in terms of mobility, dexterity, vision, cognition, reaching and stretching, touch and hearing.

“The international research conducted for this manual was impressive,” Lee added, “and it includes plenty of case study material to inspire our members, especially in the light of new technological capacities and regulatory developments.”
