reported that city officials became aware of a possible card compromise on Monday and shortly thereafter shut down the city's online payment service "until further notice" while local authorities and the FBI investigate.
"Until the issue is clarified, the city has shut down card payment services and we are not accepting credit or debit cards at this time," a statement from the city said. However, it added, "Cash and check payments will still be accepted."
