Legislative activity for 2025 has already begun

The Stateside alerts count exceeded 1,500 for this year, representing 433 2024 bill introductions. There are already numerous bills that have been pre-filed for 2025 – most of which involve cryptocurrency. Which would indicate that the coming year will again see a significant focus on crypto.

A bill introduction has also been pre-filed in South Carolina that would limit financial institution convenience fees to $1.50. HB 3219 would apply to “certain” banks in South Carolina for any transaction using an ATM. ATMIA opposes all such price controls, as they can inhibit the deployment of ATMs, restricting consumer access to cash.
