New York City has come up with possibly the most practical solution ever for fighting ATM-related crime: Put ATMs in police stations.

Publicly available cash dispensers have been installed in five station houses around the city, according to a New York Post report. The ATMs can be found in Brooklyn (3), Washington Heights in Manhattan (1) and Queens (1).

According to the Post, all of the city's 98 stations will eventually get machines. And according to one FI, they'll be a positive force for both the public and the police.

"[The station house] now becomes a place where people in the community can come into the precinct for reasons other than the ones they've gone into them in the past," Corey Fernandes, a vice president at Municipal Credit Union, told the publication.
