Sri Lanka's DFCC Bank PLC has announced the launch of its first solar-powered offsite ATM, located at an industrial estate near the capital city of Colombo.
According to a press release from the bank, the ATM will provide 24-hour banking access for more than 1,000 employees who work within the estate, as well as other bank customers in the area.
DFCC CEO Arjun Fernando and Deputy Chief Executive Lakshman Silva dedicated the ATM on Sept. 15.
"Whilst enhancing customer experience, we are also committed to environmentally sustainable business practices, and adopt technologies and processes that are aligned with this strategy," said Fernando. "In line with this, we also debut our first solar-powered ATM which will reduce the bank's carbon footprint. We will not stop here, but shall continue to grow and expand in a sustainable manner in order to serve our customers better."
DFCC Bank is fast growing its footprint across the island nation, the release said. According to the bank's website, it currently operates approximately 137 branch offices, as well as a network of 3,500 ATMs.
