The dye is cast: What to do with an ink-stained bank note?

Would you know what to do with a bank note stained with dye — an indicator that the note was stolen in a robbery or ATM theft?
In a web poll by the European ATM Security Team, two-thirds of respondents affirmed that they would, indeed, know what to do with a stained note.
However, one-third said either that they didn't know or that they weren't sure what to do if they should come into possession of one.
And the likelihood of such a scenario is growing with the rising use of intelligent banknote neutralization technology, according to EAST.
These systems spray bills with a permanent dye if the ATM is attacked, marking them as stolen — and thereby making them useless to the thief.
