Time Flies When You're Building Connections

Thursday, June 18, 2026

by Erika Navarrete

It is hard to believe that the ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets Roadshow 2026 took place just two weeks ago. The time has flown by, but the conversations, connections, and feedback from both events are still very much top of mind.

Erika Navarrete, Executive Director, ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets

This year, ATMIA made a deliberate decision to change the traditional event format.

Rather than expecting members to travel to a single large conference, we wanted to take ATMIA directly to our members and meet them where they are. Our vision was to create smaller, more intimate events that would encourage meaningful discussions, stronger networking opportunities, and direct engagement with the issues affecting our industry.

Our original plan was simple: four sponsors per city and approximately 40 delegates at each event.

The reality exceeded all expectations.

Madrid

  • 9 sponsors
  • 75 delegates

Berlin

  • 7 sponsors
  • 55 delegates

The response from the industry was overwhelming, and it confirmed that this new format resonates strongly with our members.

The smaller setting created exactly the environment we hoped for—one where senior leaders, industry experts, banks, ATM deployers, cash management companies, security providers, fintechs, processors, and solution providers could engage in genuine conversations about the future of our industry.

Throughout both events, discussions focused on the topics that matter most to our members: cash resilience, ATM innovation, operational excellence, software developments, security, branch transformation, advocacy, and the future of payments and cash access. The quality of engagement and participation demonstrated just how important it is for our industry to come together and share experiences, challenges, and solutions.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the many members who travelled from across Europe and Emerging Markets to attend. While our goal was to bring ATMIA closer to our members, we recognise and greatly appreciate those who flew in from different countries to join us. Your support helped make both events a tremendous success.

And who knows—perhaps your city will be selected for the Roadshow next year!

One of the most encouraging outcomes from the Roadshow has been the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received regarding the format itself. As a membership-led organisation, ATMIA listens carefully to its members, and the feedback has been clear: members value the opportunity for deeper conversations, closer networking, and a more personal event experience.

For that reason, we anticipate continuing and refining this format in future years based on your input and suggestions.

Thank You

A special thank you goes to our Chair of the Board, Dr. Jesse Galvan, for his continued support of ATMIA and for serving as emcee during our Berlin event. His leadership, energy, and commitment helped make the event a memorable success.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Karina Zambrano for her exceptional support of the Madrid event. Her dedication, local knowledge, and efforts behind the scenes played a significant role in the success and growth of the event. Without her support, Madrid would not have achieved the remarkable turnout and engagement that it did.

Looking Ahead: Emerging Markets Webinar Series – October 2026

While the Roadshow may be behind us, we are already looking ahead to our next major initiative.

This October, ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets will host a dedicated webinar series focused on the opportunities, challenges, and innovations shaping Emerging Markets.

We are currently seeking speakers from:

  • Africa
  • The Middle East
  • India
  • Pakistan

We would like to invite one member representative from each region to host and lead a webinar session, sharing local insights, market developments, success stories, and lessons learned.

If you are interested in presenting or would like to propose a speaker from your organisation, we would be delighted to hear from you. We look forward to receiving your proposals and showcasing the incredible expertise that exists throughout our Emerging Markets community. https://www.atmia.com/forms/emerging-markets-webinar-series/

As always, thank you for your continued support of ATMIA.

ATMIA remains committed to serving its members, listening to your needs, and providing the forums, events, and advocacy that help our industry thrive.

We wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to reconnecting with you in the months ahead.

Warm regards,
Erika
