ISO/IAD Cash Transactions
As new network fees for surcharged transactions eat away at interchange revenue for ATM operators, so-called “cash-in” transactions are expected to be an important source of new revenue. Over the past year, there have already been significant increases in deployment of recycling ATMs in retail locations. Deposit-taking is just the beginning.
Plans have been announced to deploy ATMs with advanced functionality at larger convenience store chain locations, transportation hubs, and hotels. New transaction types also include multi-denominational withdrawals, bill payments, and money transfers. All of which have the capability of driving new revenue streams for IADs.
These new cash-in transactions, though, should not be adopted blindly. Potentially, new licensing requirements, legal responsibilities, and other factors must be carefully addressed. ATMIA has created a new infographic to help the industry prepare for this new era of advanced functionality.
