The ATM Industry Association has published the third edition of its guide, "Best Practices for ATM Physical Security," to include updates on methods for counteracting current global threats.

"This new version is required reading for those serious about protecting the ATM as a highly trusted self-service device against threats today," said ATMIA CEO Mike Lee. "The association started promoting ATM security back in 2001 with the establishment of its first ATM security conference in London, an event which is still running, and shortly afterwards began its series of security best practice manuals to cover the entire ATM security lifecycle."

The updated document will help ATMIA members mitigate the risks of theft of cash an the ATM; theft of the ATM itself; and compromise of data and electronics within an ATM.

"I'd like to thank all the contributors and reviewers, as well as the technical editor, Douglas Russell, for this timely contribution to protecting a vast industry of over 3 million ATMs," Lee said. "This manual is a winner."
