Indian Railways is planning to auction 10-year rights to 2,000 ATM sites across the country. According to a report by livemint, railway executives are in discussions with several banks, and hope to generate more than 5 billion rupees ($75.19 million) in the auction.
A senior railway official told livemint that, in addition to the financial benefit, the long-term leases would provide a service to passengers who could be assured of ATM access at all railway stations across India.
Another senior official said that Indian Railways expects to complete the auction by year-end.
