FIS, PAI to roll out of cardless cash access at retail ATMs nationwide

Fintech provider FIS and independent ATM deployer Payment Alliance International have announced a partnership that will allow consumers to withdraw cash from a retail ATM without using a debit or credit card.

According to a press release, the partnership will enable the FIS Cardless Cash mobile app for use at PAI ATMs across the U.S. In time, the companies plan to make the capability available across the entire PAI nationwide network of 70,000 ATMs.

"Our partnership with PAI extends FIS leadership to the largest cardless cash ecosystem, and will benefit both banks and their customers," said Anthony Jabbour, chief operating officer for banking and payments at FIS. "Our cardless cash product combines innovation and efficiency with consumer convenience and security. For banks, it's a new revenue source, and this widespread network should facilitate customer adoption."

FIS Cardless Cash leverages the FIS Mobile Banking app with TouchID to allow consumers to authorize a cash withdrawal, then complete it at the ATM within 10 seconds and have an electronic receipt sent to their smartphone, the release said.

FIS Cardless Cash is an interoperable platform for banks, ATM operators and networks. The technology was introduced in 2015; according to the release, 34 banks across the U.S. are active on the platform.
