Legislative Activity for 2025 Has Already Begun
Thursday, January 16, 2025
The final Stateside alerts count was 1,531 for last year, representing 433 2024 bill introductions. Compared to the 2023 alert count of 934, we saw an increase of 64% in state level legislative activity this past year.
What 2025 will bring is anyone’s guess, but there were 32 bills pre-filed for 2025 – most of which involve cryptocurrency. That would seem to indicate another significant focus on crypto in the year ahead.
All ATMIA members should monitor South Carolina HB 3219, which would limit financial institution convenience fees to $1.50 for ATM transactions at “certain” banks. ATMIA opposes all such price controls, as they can inhibit the deployment of ATMs, restricting consumer access to cash.
Members who are interested in staying a step ahead of state legislative activities should opt-in to receiving Stateside Associates email alerts. Simply login to My Account and select email preferences. Then scroll down to the Stateside Alerts section and select the states you wish to receive alerts for.
