ATMIA Europe & Emerging Markets – February Update

Monday, February 23, 2026

by Erika Navarrete

January marked a strong start to 2026 with our first Europe & Emerging Markets (EEM) Advisory Board meeting of the year. The session set a clear tone for the months ahead: CONNECT and COLLABORATE.

We were pleased to welcome Jesse Galvan (Brink’s) as Chair of the EEM Board. In his opening remarks, Jesse reinforced ATMIA’s global priorities for 2026: the rise of the Super ATM, next-generation advocacy, global roadshows, and security innovation. Discussions highlighted how ATMs are evolving beyond cash dispensing—supporting deposits, recycling, retail services, and new technologies—while navigating regulatory frameworks such as DORA, NIS2, and the EU AI Act.

Advocacy remains central to ATMIA’s mission. Updates confirmed alignment with the Board’s strategy, focusing on protecting access to cash, preserving payment choice, enabling innovation, and strengthening security through the ATMIA–ASA integration. A key milestone was the release of the India National IAD (WLAO) Study, reinforcing ATMIA’s role as a data-driven, credible voice with regulators and policymakers.

Looking ahead, plans are well underway for the ATMIA EEM Roadshow with one-day events in Madrid (2 June) and Berlin (4 June), alongside an Emerging Markets webinar series in October covering Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan.
