South Dakota, USA & London, United Kingdom - ATMIA today published a new briefing paper on the threats of cyber-crime facing the ATM industry. Entitled “ATM Cyber Security Briefing Paper”, the study describes today’s range of cyber attacks and references security best practices required to combat them.

“Today, sophisticated criminals have shifted their attention towards the manipulation of ATM systems to seek their next big payouts,” Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA commented. “This paper will help all our members to understand the unfolding crime context of our industry.”

Compiled by leading ATM security consultant, Douglas Russell, the briefing paper will bring ATMIA members right up to date with all current methods of attack at the cyber and network level.

“ATMIA has founded an ATM Cyber Security Alliance to join forces with other industry associations as well as to law enforcement agencies in order to effectively combat international cybercrime,” Lee added.
