New ATM deal improves Chicago transit riders' access to cash

Cardtronics Inc has inked a new ATM services contract with Chicago Transit Authority, the nation's second largest public transportation system.

According to a press release, the new agreement extends and expands a relationship established in 2013 and places Cardtronics ATMs at more than 80 CTA train and bus stations.

Cardtronics will replace about 40 existing ATMs at CTA stations and will deploy an additional 35 machines, significantly expanding cash availability to transit customers.

"Providing CTA riders with convenience options such as ATM cash access is part of CTA's overall efforts to improve the customer experience," said Michael Gwinn, CTA director of revenue and fare systems. "Cardtronics continues to be a valued partner in that effort."

"CTA provides 1.64 million rides on an average weekday, making these stations excellent high-traffic locations for our ATMs," said David Dove, president of the North American business group at Cardtronics.
