My dad used to always tell me, “don’t look for the piece of dust in someone’s else eye before dealing with the log in yours” …loosely translated from Castilian.
Ever since CONVID-19 became a household name, some with self-serving agendas have been peddling fear and spreading misinformation as it pertains to using cash as a payment alternative. The findings against those false claims are vast and have been posted by numerous people on this platform. I am not going to waste more time to once again address this.
A couple of days ago I visited one of the large supermarkets in my area, as I pushed my cart down the fruit and vegetable isle, I noticed people picking up, handling, even smelling various fruits and vegetables. Moving on to other isles, I noticed how much people handle the food they buy before they put it in their carts or put back on the shelves, only to be picked up by another shopper. As I got ready to pay, I put my items on a conveyor belt that had not been wiped, the check out person then picked up every item I purchased, scanned it and put in on another surface. When the total came up, I paid for some of my purchase with cash, which the cashier took with gloved hands that had not been switched between shoppers, the other part of my purchased was paid for with a debit card, which I swiped into a PIN pad where I also entered my PIN. This equipment had not been sanitized between users. Onto all of this I ask, where are the naysayers who peddle this same systems and shop at those same locations purchasing food that was handled by God-Knows how many people before them? Where is the fear now?
I know where they are, peddling baseless fear and asking people to look into the potential weaknesses of others while theirs stares right back at them, the log in their eyes.
