Company: U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank has scored 100 on the 2020 Disability Equality Index (DEI) by the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. This is the third time U.S. Bank has been recognized for its efforts to ensure an inclusive workplace for people with disabilities.

“We are extremely proud to be to be among the Disability:IN top scoring companies,” said Greg Cunningham, chief diversity officer for U.S. Bank. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are imperatives for our organization and are central to our core values.”

U.S. Bank works to improve its disability equality in part through its Disability Business Resource Group (BRG), which aims to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace by providing direct input on business initiatives, supporting recruitment efforts, volunteering, celebrating culture and community and hosting development opportunities for employees.

This year, U.S. Bank has also started a new initiative: the Disability BRG IdeaPlace challenge. Employees submitted 31 ideas around increasing accessibility for employees and customers, and will participate in a bootcamp to build out and pitch their ideas. Three finalists will be announced on July 27 to coincide with the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) 30th anniversary on July 26.

U.S. Bank also supports employees with disabilities and employees who are family members of those with disabilities through:

  • Membership circles, providing safe spaces for employees to discuss experiences with invisible disabilities, hearing impairment, being a caregiver and more.
  • Panel discussions and in-person speakers on disability-focused issues.
  • Hiring partnerships with community organizations to increase work opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
  • Employee benefits and programs to support caregivers of children, partners, spouses or parents with disabilities.
  • Membership in the Autism @ Work Employer Roundtable, through which we work with other leading companies to advance opportunities for individuals on the Autism spectrum.
  • Senior executive engagement and support for the BRG, accessibility for employees and customers and community partnerships.
  • Accessibility Open House events where employees learn about, and experience, innovative accessible technology solutions.
  • A11Y (Accessibility) award program, recognizing employees who have significantly helped in accessibility efforts within their teams and beyond.
