LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, SIOUX FALLS, SD, USA, June 21, 2018, ATMIA announced today that over 150 companies in 6 continents have now joined its Consortium for Next Generation ATMs. The growing list of stakeholders includes major banks, IADs, credit unions, ATM manufacturers, software suppliers, Cash in Transit companies, network processors, card brands, associations, central banks, security solutions providers and consultancies.

“This is the largest global future-proofing exercise undertaken by the ATM industry in this century,” stated Mike Lee, CEO of ATMIA and chairperson of the Consortium. “There is such a high rate of disruptive technological change in our industry, in the high street and in the global economy, that any industry or business that doesn’t do some significant future-proofing right now will face existential risks.”

The list of participants covers the entire ATM value chain. Check out the next gen ATM video here.

“To prevent the ATM industry from experiencing its own imminent ‘future shock’, we need to actually implement this unprecedented global consensus for a new API App blueprint for future ATMs, linking over 3,2 million ATMs, in great locations, to about 5 billion roving mobile phones worldwide,” Lee commented.

Six steps of a ten-step plan to implement the blueprint have now been completed, with the Consortium currently engaged with its roadmap for next gen ATM standards to ensure there is sufficient interoperability for the new ATM ecosystem.

The next gen architecture will be officially launched at ATMIA’s European conference in Madrid this October.

“Join us now,“ Lee concluded, ”it’s free to do so and it’s a great investment in our future.” Contact Mike Lee to join.
