I am delighted to make available a report, prepared by Ron Delnevo and myself, which highlights why we are where we are today in relation to payments in the UK and identifies affirmative action required to ensure cash remains a viable Payment Choice for everyone in the UK who wishes to use it.
High up the list of priorities for action is banning "cashless" for in-person payments. This has been done by the Chinese Central Bank, to safeguard the Payment Choice of the Chinese Public; there is no reason why other Central Banks should not follow this excellent example.
