Glory teams with UK challenger bank to automate cash handling

Glory Global Solutions has announced that Metro Bank, a U.K.-based challenger bank and new Glory customer, will deploy Vertera 6G Teller Cash Recyclers in new branches scheduled to open in 2016 and 2017.

Additionally, the FI will replace older technology in a number of existing locations with the Vertera 6G, according to a press release.

Metro Bank also will deploy CashInsight Bridge, Glory's remote monitoring and management solution. This will allow the bank to detect and pinpoint potential faults at an early stage, minimizing disruption to customers.

CashInsight Bridge also enables the distribution of new firmware and currency templates remotely, eliminating the need for onsite visits by service engineers. This latter feature is particularly relevant in the light of the U.K.'s plan to begin introducing polymer notes in September, Glory said.

Founded in 2010, Metro Bank is the first new U.K. high street bank to launch in more than 100 years, according to the release. The FI currently operates 40 stores across London and the South East, and plans to open as many as 110 stores by 2020.

The bank is differentiated by its retail store banking hours (8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Friday; 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday and bank holidays), every day except Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day.
