1. Future of Cash in Myanmar and Its Impact on ATM Network Growth:

In Myanmar, cash has historically been the primary mode of payment due to limited banking infrastructure and access to digital financial services. However, the future of cash in Myanmar is likely to undergo significant changes. The government and financial institutions have been working on expanding digital financial services and promoting cashless transactions. Factors such as increased smartphone penetration and efforts to improve financial inclusion are expected to contribute to a gradual shift away from cash.

Regarding the impact on the ATM network, while cash usage may decrease, ATMs will continue to play a crucial role in providing access to cash for those who still prefer or rely on it. ATMs can also serve as a gateway to other financial services, including bill payments and balance inquiries, further supporting their relevance. Therefore, while the volume of ATM transactions may change, the ATM network will likely adapt and continue to serve as a vital part of the financial infrastructure in Myanmar. Most of the largest banks are trying to drive their ATM service and Functionality to be more innovative.

2. The Role of Cash in Southeast Asia and the Impact of Cashless Payment Options:

Across Southeast Asia, the role of cash varies from country to country. Many nations in the region have seen a rise in cashless payment options driven by factors such as urbanization, technological advancement, and changing consumer preferences. Cashless payment options, including mobile wallets and digital banking, have gained popularity due to their convenience and accessibility.

The impact on cash usage has been substantial, with a gradual decline in cash transactions. However, cash remains important in Southeast Asia, especially in rural areas and for certain segments of the population that have limited access to digital financial services. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of digital payments as a safer alternative to cash.

In Myanmar, cash remains the predominant medium for conducting daily business operations and serves as a foundational element of our workforce's financial activities. Consequently, the government and various stakeholders are actively engaged in initiatives to foster a transition towards a cashless society by influencing and shaping our financial behaviors.

3. Innovations Driving ATM Industry Success:

The ATM industry is evolving to remain relevant in an increasingly digital and cashless world. Some innovations that are likely to drive its ongoing success include:

a) ATM Functionality Expansion: ATMs are becoming more than just cash dispensers. They can provide various services, including bill payments, fund transfers, and account inquiries, making them other creative financial service points.

b) Integration with Digital Services: ATMs can be integrated with mobile apps and digital banking platforms, allowing users to initiate transactions through their smartphones and complete them at ATMs.

c) Biometric Authentication: Biometric authentication methods, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, can enhance ATM security and convenience.
