Europe Region Update From Sofia Sadiq – December 2022

Dear Valued Member,

And so it is Christmas and we have made it through another, what I hope has been for all of you, a period of good health, peace and prosperity.

Thank you so much for your valued support during the year and not to mention the past few years of very challenging times. The ATM industry has held firm during this time and that is thanks in large part to your continued loyalty and dedication to ATMIA and to the industry as a whole. 

Our membership has much to look forward to in the new year, including the continued success of certified Next Gen ATMs, linking ATMs to the customers’ mobile phones in a new API App model for ATMs, consummated in 2020 with the launch of the online self-certification system.  

As we return to normalcy, our industry will be primed and ready and I am hopeful that we’ll see a big rebound as demand is released and cash savings start to be spent.

Look forward to some exciting announcements coming in the New Year, especially about our new initiative which we will be launching in the first quarter of next year, where we will be bringing together members and associate members to join an Advocacy panel, set up to discuss key issues and concerns facing the cash industry in Europe and beyond.

We’re also very excited to be working with our new Chair of the Europe Board, Per Bjarne Valstad, from Tietoevry. Per has been Head of Sales, ATM Services at Tietoevry since 1983 and is based in Norway. Our board meetings will now be held in the mornings, with the next one scheduled on 19^th January, 2023 at 10 am. Look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Planning is also underway for next year’s Europe Summit which will be held in Dublin in early October. The Summit will include, for the first time, a few sessions and workshops relating to Emerging Markets, in particular in MEA, Africa, India and Pakistan, in order to better understand the complexity of issues faced in the region.
