The April 20 Washington, DC Fly-in group had an opportunity to meet with Congressman John Rose, co-sponsor of  last year’s “Safe Access to Cash Act”. Safe access to Cash Act could be re-introduced by Congressman John Rose by June 2023. He is seeking a Democrat on the Judiciary Committee to co-sponsor it with him. The bill would make it a federal crime to steal or attempt to steal cash in an ATM or load into an ATM.“  Penalties would include a fine and/or up to 20 years in prison.

At the state level, there were several states that introduced ATM crime bills last year. So far this year, there have been ATM crime bills introduced in three states – Missouri, Louisiana and Illinois.
