Nearly 1,000 alerts have already been received for 383 2024 bill introductions. Two-thirds are related to cryptocurrency or digital assets – even more than in 2023. So far, only 8 states have not introduced any such legislation. New York, Minnesota and Arkansas lead the pack with 20, 18 and 16 bills, respectively. Any ATMIA member organizations that are actively involved in the cryptocurrency industry are welcome to join the ATM Cryptocurrency Deployers Advocacy Group.

Bills to require acceptance of cash for all in-person retail transactions have been introduced in 17 states. This includes a few states that introduced bills last year that are still active and eligible for further action.  A number of other states are making minor changes to existing statutes. The interactive ‘Cashless Ban’d Wagon’ map can be found on the U.S. Region home page, with links to current status and bill language.
