Daily COVID-19 Report - State by State

 This is Stateside's Daily Report about State and Local Government responses to the evolving COVID-19 situation. For updates throughout the day follow us on Twitter at @StatesideAssoc.

 Some of the new developments in today’s Report include:

  • Arkansas Lawmakers will meet April 8 in a basketball arena to observe social distancing. Voting by proxy is allowed.

  • The California Legislature has suspended session until at least May 4.

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) has extended the Stay At Home Order to May 1. The order has been amended to require essential businesses to determine and enforce a maximum number of customers allowed in a store at one time. The order has been amended to direct travelers arriving to Ohio should self-quarantine for 14 days. Exceptions include persons who live and work in trans-border areas, heath care workers, public health workers, public safety workers, transportation workers and designated essential workers.

Since the global outbreak of coronavirus:

► Over 85 bills have been introduced in 25 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia on paid sick leave and worker protections as well as appropriations requests.

► Over 440 executive actions have been issued in 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, Guam, and the Virgin Islands. These executive actions include but are not limited to declarations of states of emergency, school closures, prohibition of mass gatherings, retail and business closures, and stay at home orders.

► 20 task forces have been established by 13 governors.

► Over 25 states and the District of Columbia have issued emergency regulations on a number of issues including but not limited to insurance carriers, labor and wage, and medical licensure.

► 62 legislative chambers have either temporarily adjourned, moved to virtual meetings, or announced an early recess or sine die. Additionally
