Some of the new developments in today’s report include:
- Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) and the Department of Health and Welfare issued an order moving the state into Stage 4 of the reopening plan.
- Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb (R) announced a $61.6 million grant program for Indiana PK-12 schools and higher education institutions to provide funding to improve remote learning. The funding will be focused on three areas: device availability, connectivity, and educator capacity.
- Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) announced that the full state will move into Phase 3 of the reopening plan on July 1.
Since the global outbreak of Coronavirus:
► Over 185 bills have been introduced in 42 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia on paid sick leave and worker protections as well as appropriations requests.
► Over 300 executive actions have been issued in 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, Guam, and the Virgin Islands related to declarations of states of emergency, school closures, prohibition of mass gatherings, retail and business closures and restrictions, and stay at home orders. Over 1,200 executive actions have been issued in total.
► Over 20 state task forces have been established by 12 governors.
► Over 25 states and the District of Columbia have issued emergency regulations on a number of issues including but not limited to insurance carriers, labor and wage, and medical licensure.
► 69 legislative chambers have either temporarily adjourned, moved to virtual meetings, or announced an early recess or sine die.
